I want to bury myself in a den of books. I want to saturate myself with the elements of which they are made, and breathe their atmosphere until I am of it. Not a bookworm, being which is to give off no utterances; but a man in the world of writing, one with a pen that shall stop men to listen to it, whether they wish to or not.

THE BURIED LIFE: 20 Things I Should Have Known at 20.

1. The world is trying to keep you stupid. From bank fees to interest rates to miracle diets, people who are not educated are easier to get money from and easier to lead. Educate yourself as much as possible for wealth, independence, and happiness.

I Survived The Trek With One Slipper

So, my friends and I went out for a summer trip, we went to Baler, Aurora, Philippines.

We first visited the “largest” tree in the world, they say, the Balete Tree. It’s really huge and they say that you need to 20 people to stretch and hold hands together to hug the whole tree. The tree was like really full of branching trunks, and yes, you can get inside of it. We did have junior tour guides (they were like 12 to 15 year old kids), we followed our tour guides inside the tree and going UP on the tree without any safety harness to put on. When we were halfway through our adventurous climb, my friend Marvin was like “What’s the point of climbing this tree? Just for the picture? I really shouldn’t have come up here!” I think he reacted like that because first, we were really high and there’s no assurance that we can continue climbing without risking our safety. In the end, only one of us got on the top of the tree.

Here’s the fun part of our trip, so we decided to go to the waterfalls. It’s a 20-30 minute drive from the infamous rocky one way road (seriously, if you happen to see a car approaching you, you need pull back just to let him through and start your journey again) from the entrance to reach the foot of the mountain. And then another half hour trek going up to the falls. The trek is seriously unlike any other that I did before, a combination of big big rocks and small pebbles (rugged terrain) along the way and you’re going to cross the river again and again and it’s seriously slippery. Almost halfway through our trek, we cross this river and I slipped but didn’t fall though something got lost, my slipper! I saw it streaming down the river and our tour guide wasn’t able to get it. Ah, so I told my friends, should I throw my other slipper so someone could use it if they found the other one. (Haha, thinking like Rizal.) Though I did not threw my slipper to the river, I continued the trek with one slipper (yes I did, I thought that if and if my left foot was injured, I can use my right slipper for my left foot so that it won’t hurt that much plus I have a 50% chance of not getting injured because my right slipper is still with me. Haha) I know im pretty ridiculous of not wearing trekking shoes. lol

And so we did arrive to famous waterfalls, and it was really beautiful! Took all my exhaustion away, water was really cold, fresh from the mountain top.

On the way down (and here we go again), my friend lend me his slippers (such a good friend) for a while but did give it back because I think he’s not used to walking on barefoot and it’s my problem why I lost my slipper and he doesn’t need to suffer because of my clumsiness. We took the same path going down, crossing the river and rocky terrain until we reached the part where I lost my slipper, my plan was I would throw my remaining slipper now because I thought I could survive the remaining part until the tourist guide said wait… He searched around the big boulders of rock where my slipper could be stuck and yes! He found my slipper! He was really awesome for finding it. So for the remaining part, I wore my slippers. Haha.

I know this post isn’t related to med stuff, but guess what, my friends here are my classmates in Medicine, so yeah… Med students know how to have fun. Haha.

not a big fan of Isabella Swan but I might like her as Snow White as long as she keeps her sparkling “ex-wizard now vampire husband” (cause Thor is way way cooler than him.lol)

Florence + The Machine - Breath of Life

The patients, the medical staff and the people behind this video, they really are an inspiration.

This is one of the reasons why I want to become a doctor, to not just heal their illnesses but also to heal the pain they feel inside.
